
For Skaters and Parents/Guardians
Skate Canada and the Edge Above Skating School are committed to ensuring that all skaters have the opportunity to participate in a safe and welcoming environment that is encouraging and promotes their overall development.
This code applies to all skaters and parents/guardians who are members of the Edge Above Skating School/Skate Canada. All skaters and parents/guardians shall abide by this code at all times.

Membership at the Edge Above Skating School is a privilege and will be revoked for inappropriate behavior on the part of skaters and parents/guardians.

Skaters under the age of 12 must have a parent/guardian in the arena at all times.

Parents/guardians always model positive and responsible behavior and communicate with their son/daughter that they expect them to do the same.

Parents/guardians shall emphasize the importance of values like sportsmanship, respect, competition, and teamwork to their son/daughter, offering praise for competing fairly, participation, and skill development.

Parents/guardians shall instill confidence in their son/daughter’s ability and skill development, always avoiding comparisons with other skaters.

Parents/guardians shall respect that the coach is responsible and empowered for the on-ice and off-ice development of the skater. Coaches are to be treated with respect and courtesy at all times by skaters and parents/guardians. Coaches can and will ask discourteous skaters and parents/guardians to leave the arena.

All parents/guardians/skaters arguments are to be taken out of the arena. It is not appropriate behavior and will not be tolerated at any time.

There will be zero tolerance for inappropriate language on or off the ice in the arenas.

No iPods, cell phones, or cameras on the ice surface. Exceptions must be approved by a board member or coach.

It is for the safety of all skaters that, if a skater falls, we encourage all skaters to get back up on their skates as soon as possible. Please inform someone if you are injured.

Be on time and leave the ice promptly when the session is finished. Coaches need to be informed if a skater will be late or absent.

Due to insurance regulations only registered Skate Canada Members are permitted on the ice surface. Parents/guardians of skaters are not registered members.

Parents/guardians and other skaters are requested not to interrupt coaches while in lessons with skaters unless absolutely necessary

Please remember: Every skater is equal on the ice.
